AUTHORIZATION/ACCREDITATION
Ente Radar "G.Marconi" has been authorized to deliver this course by the Italian Ministry of Transportation on 4 May 2006
RECIPIENTS
The course is required for all mariners aiming to obtain the IMO certification of:
- Officer in charge of a navigational watch
- Officer in charge of a navigational watch (coastal navigation)
PREREQUISITE
The course can be attended by:
- mariners who have completed a minimum period of six months at sea, training in activities relating to deck officer tasks
- mariners who have completed a minimum period of six months at sea, gaining some experience of bridge watchkeeping
- mariners who have completed a minimum period of six months at sea, as ship boy or as deck officer trainee on pleasure boats (even on boats not destined for traffic)
DURATION
The course lasts 42 hours. Attendance is mandatory.
OBJECTIVE
The goal of this course is to train candidates in the proper use of radar for risk assessment, collision avoidance and navigation. Trainees will use the ship simulator equipped with several types of indicators, in compliance with Radar Training Requirements of STCW sections A-II/1 and A-II/3.
CERTIFICATE
The relevant IMO STCW certificate, internationally recognized, is issued after successful completion of final exams.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The course is scheduled year-round, except in the month of August.
